Our bristles are softer than you'd find on a plastic dish brush, which we think is a great thing. It means it's safe to use on non-stick pots and pans and helps the bristles mould to the shape of whatever you're cleaning, getting right into the corners. However it does mean that in some cases it won't scrub off tough cooked on grime like a plastic dish brush might.

We recommend getting in to the habit of soaking dishes you know will be tough before attacking them to soften them up. The other thing you can do is flip the brush over and use the end as a scraper for really tough jobs.

Also keep an Eco Scrub on hand for tougher jobs and a steelo for the really tough ones.

We've used plenty of two piece scrubbing brushes and we got frustrated with all of them. They either don't last, are really bulky and heavy or the head is so chunky it can't fit in half the dishes you need it for. Our dish brush is the perfect blend of sustainable and functional, it looks and feels great as one solid piece of timber.

We've picked natural Tampico bristles because they biodegrade and break down much more quickly than plastic does. They also don't spread microplastics all through your kitchen and in our waterways. This does come with a catch though, they're not quite as resilient as the plastic brushes many people are used to. Most people don't find this to be an issue but there is something you can do to improve the lifespan of your bristles... clean left-handed. Or if you are left handed, use your right!

You may have noticed your bristles have worn in one particular spot, and that's because you're always using the same part of the brush to clean! If you swap hands every now and then you use a different part of the brush when you're scrubbing, which makes it last longer. This also has the added bonus of helping you be more mindful when you're cleaning. It's so easy to drift off in thought when you're doing jobs like the dishes on auto-pilot. Changing your routine so you actually have to think about what you're doing brings you in to the present moment. Plus learning to do a task in a new way helps your brain stay young by increasing neuroplasticity.

Beyond the dishes it's so good for getting cobwebs out of corners! Also for cleaning the kids muddy footwear, we keep an old one at the back door for just that job! Awesome for washing veges too, the soft bristles can really get into the crevices and reach hard to reach dirt.
